Emma's Eggs from Hammonds End Farm are now ready for delivery to local people in Harpenden and the surrounding villages.
Our sixty hens have settled in to life on our small organic farm and are now laying their delicious eggs everyday. Lots of local people have already signed up to regular deliveries of our fresh farm eggs to their doorstep and are telling us how tasty they are.
We still have a small number of Emma's Eggs available for weekly or fortnightly delivery and if we reach capacity will start a waiting list so if you would like more information visit our Emma's Eggs page.
On Tuesday 24th March we welcomed thirty six and seven-year-olds from St Nicholas School , Harpenden to the farm for a visit. It was part of their studies about where their food comes from. We made sure they got lots of hands on farming experience with feeding our cows and chickens and testing and weighing our various cereal crops as well as the always popular tractor and trailer ride. They asked loads of questions and seemed to have a great time.
During the last couple of days we have been clearing out one of the sheds on the farm to use for the sorting and packing of the eggs. The room used to be used by the staff who looked after the farms horses until about 1950. Hidden on the wall we discovered around fifty rosettes and prize card from the 1920's and 1930's. They are mainly from the Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire County shows. We are hoping to create a display which we will exhibited at this years Herts Show during the weekend of 23th and 24th May.
